Summary

Do you ever listen to other women sharing their stories about hearing God's voice and wonder, "Why doesn't He talk to me like that?" Maybe you feel like you are on a different wavelength, or worse, that you are doing something wrong because you don't hear a choir or see a vision. If you are asking how God talks to you, because you want to find your unique frequency in a world of spiritual noise, you are not alone! In this episode of the Arise, Women of God podcast, host Tamara K. Anderson joins advisory board member Kari Anjewierden to discuss the individual nature of revelation.

We move from a "one-size-fits-all" faith to a deeply personal connection by exploring the different learning styles of revelation. Kari shares expert advice on how to embrace the tears, explaining why sudden feelings of being overwhelmed and "weepy" are actually her unique signal that the Spirit is present. Tamara uncovers surprising insights about the Holy Ghost bringing things to our remembrance, discussing how a forgotten memory of a doctor's office waiting room solved a desperate prayer for her son's reading challenges. Whether you're a Christian woman looking to overcome the pain of spiritual comparison or simply curious about how God talks to you, this episode is packed with valuable takeaways. Plus, we share practical steps for adapting your prayer routine as you move through different seasons of life. Episode Takeaways

  • The Perfect Parent: Just as an earthly mother communicates differently with each of her unique children (e.g., using visual lists for a child with autism), God tailors His communication to your specific personality and learning style.
  • The Gift of Tears: Kari used to worry that she was crying all the time, until she realized that sudden tears were actually her personal "signal" that God was speaking to her heart. Don't be afraid to embrace the emotions of the Spirit!
  • Bringing to Remembrance: John 14:26 promises that the Holy Ghost will "bring all things to your remembrance." Tamara shares how a random memory popped into her head during a desperate prayer, leading her to the exact doctor her son needed.
  • The Signal Check: If God seems quiet, He might just be changing His communication style to stretch your faith! Ask Him: "Teach me how to best hear You now, in this specific season of my life."

Reflection Questions

  1. Do you currently struggle with "spiritual comparison" (wishing you heard God the same way someone else does)? How does the "Perfect Parent" analogy change your perspective?
  2. What is your unique "signal" that the Spirit is present? Is it tears, a burning in your chest, a clear thought, or an overwhelming sense of peace?
  3. Can you think of a time when the Holy Ghost brought a specific memory, name, or idea "to your remembrance" right when you needed it?
  4. Look at your current season of life. Are you an "early morning" receiver or a "late night" receiver? Is it time to ask God for a signal check?

Ordinary women Extraordinary Faith When God calls, we say yes. The Arise Women of God Podcast hello and welcome to another episode of the Arise Women of God podcast.

I'm your host and Tamara K. Anderson, and joining me today is the fabulous Carrie Angewerden, who is a member of our Women warriors of Light advisory board. And today we're diving into the individual nature of revelation.

How does God talk to me? What I love about this question. God is a perfect God, a perfect father.

And just like I, an imperfect parent, sees each of my children and knows that each of my children is so unique and different that I am going to communicate with them differently. They have different things that motivate them. They have different ways that they hear.

My kids on the autism spectrum do so much better when I write things down and they have like a list in front of them or a sentence in front of them. And so each of my kids is unique. I think God sees us in the same way.

Isn't it incredible that God meets us exactly where we are, especially when we're feeling overwhelmed by the mental load of motherhood? He knows our unique styles, and he also knows when we need a little extra help managing the beautiful chaos in our homes.

Speaking of making homes a little more harmonious, I want to take a quick break and share a resource that has been a total game changer for families. Mom's summer is almost upon us, and we all know that a shift in the rhythm can be a challenge. Are you ready for it? Picture this.

Angela's strategies teach kids responsibility and teamwork while keeping a smile on their face and on yours as well. Imagine a summer where your home runs smoothly, giving you more time to actually enjoy those sunny days together.

Build memories, not just to do lists. All right, now let's get back to our podcast episode. When our homes feel more Peaceful.

It's so much easier to hear that unique frequency we've been talking about.

Now, as we dive back into our conversation, Cari is going to share how she had to navigate her own connection with God when she realized it didn't look like the formal prayers she grew up with.

Kari Anjewierden

00:04:29.420 - 00:05:45.750

My dad was very formal in the way that he spoke. And so in our home growing up, prayers were very formal. And I've, I think I've found a happy medium.

For me, if I'm praying in a formal manner, then it doesn't feel like I'm praying to my Father. And so I have had to find my own way of speaking to God. And I know he hears me because he knows me and I know he loves me for who I am.

For me, feelings are a good way that I hear Him. That burning in the chest. Often mine come in the form of tears. All of a sudden I feel overwhelmed and I'm just weepy.

And I maybe don't know why that that has become a signal for me. I used to worry about, oh, I'm crying all the time. And then I realized, no, that's me feeling God speaking to me in my heart.

And I don't need to feel bad about that. That that's something to rejoice over. And then, oh, that moment of clarity where you're just like, ah, yeah, that thing.

So those are other ways that he has been able to speak to me.

Tamara K. Anderson

00:05:45.910 - 00:08:59.700

Those aha moments are often a direct.

Fulfillment of the promise that The Holy Ghost will bring all things to your remembrance. I experienced this so vividly when I was desperate to help my son Jordan,. With his reading challenges.

I love those epiphany moments in John 14:26. And this is the Savior, he says, the comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name.

He will teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance. And so sometimes you'll have this sudden inspiration. Boing.

It just pops in your head, and you're like, oh. And that can be God speaking to you through the Holy Ghost, right? I've had other instances where it'll bring something to my mind, to my remembrance.

I had. This happened very vividly once years ago. Our family lived in Arkansas at the time, and Nathan was a little boy and had been diagnosed with autism.

And we needed to get some additional tests done. And one of the things that we needed to do was take him to a developmental optician. And so we had to drive clear up into Missouri to find one, even.

And while I'm sitting there, I was flipping through some books on the coffee table there, waiting to go see the doctor. And it says something about vision therapy and all these testimonials. And I thought, oh, that's interesting. He does that. Closed it.

Didn't think anything else of it. Nathan got his evaluation by this great optician, and, you know, he was fine.

But years later, our oldest son, Jordan, was really struggling with reading. And he was going into fourth grade, and I just remember thinking, something is wrong with him.

We'd taken him to an eye doctor, and he can see just fine. I'm like, why is he still struggling? And one day I just knelt down and I pray, and I'm like, dear God, I don't know what else to do for this kid.

We've tried so many things. I've taken him to several eye doctors. What is wrong? Why is he struggling to read? And guess what popped into my head?

That image of me flipping through the book all those years before. It had probably been four or five years later. Find that doctor and go back to him. He's like, he needs vision therapy.

And I'm just like, I don't even know what that is. And I finally found the doctor, called him, and I explained our son's situation. And, yeah, they. They helped him. They got him in.

They were finally able to diagnose what was wrong with his eyes. They.

It was amazing. But that was the epiphany. This was God bringing something to my mind that I had completely forgotten about. But he spoke to me through a thought.

Hey, remember this. Isn't it great to know that he reminds us exactly of what we need, when we need it? But what happens when the old way of hearing God stops working?

Carrie has noticed that as we move through different scenes, seasons of life, we have to be more intentional about asking for a signal check with God.

Kari Anjewierden

00:08:59.780 - 00:09:45.730

But I think sometimes it is that practice that helps God know that we are serious, that we really want that relationship. And it, it takes us putting in a little bit more effort than sometimes maybe we want to. I know I'm. I'm guilty of that.

Often of I call them ceiling prayers because maybe I'm not putting in the effort enough that they're not going past my ceiling. And am I taking the time every day to really put into a relationship or am I just rambling words?

And when I am more intentional about what questions I'm asking and how I'm asking them, I get a lot better answers.

Tamara K. Anderson

00:09:46.050 - 00:10:27.860

Well, and I've also evolved in how I hear and talk to God. And I know there's certain times of the day that I am much more coherent and likely to hear him than I am at other times.

I know now that my morning prayers, I'm much more able to hear and receive inspiration in the morning versus my evening prayers when I am like falling asleep. So God knows if he wants to talk to me, it's got to be early morning. That's usually when I hear better, but that's just me.

Years ago, that was not true. The inverse was probably true. I probably heard him better at night versus in the morning. So I think it depends on the times and seasons of our lives.

Teach me how to best hear you now in this season of my life.

Kari Anjewierden

00:10:28.100 - 00:10:53.320

Just because you get to know one way that he's speaking to you, doesn't mean he's not going to change that. He wants us to learn and stretch and grow, right? And so on occasion that will change.

And we need to be aware of that too, that if all of a sudden you feel like, oh, well, I used to get answers and now I'm not getting answers, has he changed the way that he's speaking to you? And you can ask him.

Tamara K. Anderson

00:10:53.879 - 00:11:53.630

So, my friends, God is speaking to you in your unique language. Whether he's using tears, memories, or the quiet stillness of your morning, he is reaching out.

You don't need to hear him like your neighbor, you just need to hear like you.

If you're ready to discover your unique frequency, we built an amazing roadmap to Revelation Free downloadable PDF to help you tune in in this we'll talk about the first morning priority which is part of step one and invite you to give God the first five minutes.
