God's Love and My Journey of Faith
Feb 14, 2024Dear Sister Warriors,
Do you love or hate Valentine's Day? I am thankful to celebrate the power of love.
Love, in its purest form, transcends human understanding and finds its roots in the divine. As we navigate life's twists and turns, understanding love's profound nature requires an open heart and a receptive spirit.
A Personal Encounter with Love
When I was a teenager, I was blessed with a profound encounter that reshaped my understanding of divine love. It was a simple question posed by my father one evening that echoed through the corridors of my soul: "Do you know that God loves you?" Little did I know, this inquiry would set me on a path of spiritual discovery and personal revelation. My dad then invited me to ask God if He loved me.
Intrigued by my father's words, I embarked on a journey of introspection and prayer. That night, as I knelt in quiet reverence, I summoned the courage to ask the Almighty, "God, do you love me?" What followed was a moment of divine communion.
As I poured out my heart in prayer, I felt a warmth enveloping me, akin to being immersed in a can of warm soda pop. It was a sensation of joy and peace, sweeping away all doubts and fears. In that sacred moment, I experienced an overwhelming sense of love, a love that was not merely conceptual but palpably real.
Love Defined: A Biblical Perspective
The Bible, particularly in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (KJV), offers a timeless definition of love:
"Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth."
Love's Transformative Power
My encounter with divine love transformed my perception of love itself. I learned that love surpasses romanticism and familial bonds; it's an unconditional, unwavering force that permeates every aspect of our lives. Love is a choice we make daily, extending grace, compassion, and acknowledging the inherent worth of every individual.
Conclusion: Embracing Love's Eternal Truth
In a world often marred by division, let's be beacons of love, illuminating darkness with charity. 1 John 4:7-8 (KJV) reminds us of love's divine origin:
"Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love."
Acknowledging Love's Presence
Today, as we celebrate love, let's remember its divine origins and transformative power. Love is not just an abstract concept but a tangible reality, manifested in creation and within us. As we bask in love's warmth, let's never forget its enduring grace.
And if you want to know if God loves you, I encourage you to ask Him...and then listen.
With faith and love,
Tamara
